STYLING NOTES

This one surprised me. I didn't go into it thinking it would work this well. A Benaras brocade dupatta — the kind that usually lives folded in a cupboard, waiting for the right occasion. Draped across the body and tucked into an obi style belt, it becomes a top. The weight of the brocade holds the drape. The richness of the fabric does everything else. No stitching. No cutting. Just understanding how the fabric wants to fall and working with it. What makes Benaras brocade particularly good for this is the structure — it's not a soft, slippery fabric. It has a body. It holds its shape. The zari weave means it catches light the way a top never quite would. You're not wearing a dupatta as a top. You're wearing a piece of craft as the centrepiece of a look. Paired here with a fun, understated cat shared clutch
